Freedom with responsibility

The election of Barack Obama is the welcome of a new era of hope for America and hope for the world. Like the shades of all windows rolling up and letting the sun in, we know we’re on the right track to becoming happier and healthier.

Before – during the last eight years – the shades were down and we were lulled into a sleep or lured into a shopping stupor.

Now, we get to activate. We get to be involved with our government and it’s our country, again. Like JFK’s statement, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country,” we get to do something, we’re welcome to the party.

Alyce’s Blog gets the ball rolling with some excellent ideas about kick starting our lives back into American gear, and a proper way to welcome President Obama into office: Five things you can do to help President Obama.

  1. Thank you for sharing this! I left a comment over there. I think we all definitely need to do our part in making this a successful presidency. We need to not count on him, but count on ourselves.

Isn’t counting on ourselves how we got him into office in the first place?

I feel like we need to be collectively active to be effective. I felt that with this election people got both angry enough and found someone to put our hope in at the same time. We were ready to act together. It was/is so beautiful!

I hope we can sustain a large part of that feeling and that power. It felt like “the people’s” election. We woke up and we got our country back. I hope we stay awake and hold on tight! : )
